PPG Launches New DELFLEET Evolution F4921 Epoxy Primer

Low-VOC epoxy primer offers versatility, fast dry times

PPG Industries' commercial coatings group has introduced F4921 Epoxy Primer to the DELFLEET Evolution premium commercial paint system. F4921 is a 2.1-VOC (volatile organic compound) gray primer that is compatible with Delfleet Evolution basecoats and single-stage topcoats and offers exceptional versatility. It can be applied to a range of substrates such as cold rolled steel, aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, galvaneal, fiberglass and cured surfaces.

F4921 is fast-drying and can be topcoated as a primer sealer in as little as 30 minutes, making it a high-value choice for production-conscious collision centers. The primer also displays superior adhesion and corrosion resistance, which makes it attractive for use by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as repair shops. It can be applied over bare metal as a protective layer or as a sealer over existing finishes.

Wirth added that F4921’s low 2.1-VOC rating makes it compliant for all parts of the U.S. and Canada. The primer is applied in a 3-to-1-to-1 mix ratio and lays down smoothly because of its thin film quality, she added.
