Adhesives Research Offers Three High-Performance Repulpable Splicing Tapes

Glen Rock, PA - Adhesives Research, Inc. offers three specialty products from its extensive line of high-performance repulpable splicing tapes: ARclad® 0077, ARclad® 9581 and ARclad® 9590.

ARclad® 0077 is a white, 7.0-mil, aggressive double-faced repulpable split tape. It utilizes a unique carrier that splits cleanly, allowing for the release of the tail from the roll while still covering the repulpable adhesive. In addition to flying splice applications, this tape can also be used in core starting and temporary roll finishing, and is suitable for coater, slitter and rewind operations.

Among the benefits of ARclad® 0077:

  • Includes a specially designed carrier that splits cleanly to "release a tail" while still covering adhesive
  • Seals the leading edge across new web to prevent air entrapment during speed match
  • Allows for faster splice set-up versus tab-based systems
  • Allows unwinding of rolls to the core when used for core starting and core stripping
  • Is useful for temporary roll finishing between operations in mills

In addition, ARclad® 0077 is compatible with a large variety of paper grades, including coated, specialty, uncoated, fine, offset, heavy weight, bond and kraft.

ARclad® 9581 is a highly visible, 4.0-mil, aggressive repulpable tabbing or butt splicing tape that offers a printable surface and a scored liner. It is also capable of accepting paper coatings. In addition to butt splicing and perfect splicing applications, this tape can also be used in such operations as rereelers, winders, slitters, rewinders and coaters.

Among the benefits of ARclad® 9581:

  • Includes a liner that is scored to allow for two-step removal, while providing quick and easy set-up for butt splicing and perfect splicing applications.
  • Is designed for applications where tensile strength and adhesion are important.
  • Accepts coatings and is printable.
  • Provides excellent visibility for splice identification with bright blue color of tape.

In addition, ARclad® 9581 is compatible with a large variety of paper grades, including fine, bond, cover stock, light weight, coated, uncoated, specialty paper and paperboard.

ARclad® 9590 is a 3.5-mil, very aggressive double-faced splicing tape with an easy-to-use repulpable release liner. It is ideally suited for high-speed flying splices and may also be used for zero-speed, overlap, core starting and roll finishing splicing applications, as well as with such operations as sheeters, slitters, rewinders and automatic core starters.

Among the benefits of ARclad® 9590:

  • Easy-to-use liner with less "grab" that allows for faster manufacturing.
  • Extremely aggressive surface tack required for flying splices
  • Excellent visibility for splice identification provided by bright aqua-blue color of tape.

In addition, ARclad® 9590 is compatible with a large variety of paper grades, including coated and uncoated papers, specialty papers, cover stock and newsprint.

All three of these ARclad® repulpable tapes maintain a high level of tack over a wide range of environmental conditions and meet TAPPI UM 213 procedure A.

Adhesives Research's line of ARclad® high-performance splicing tapes includes both repulpable and non-repulpable splicing tapes. These tapes are used in the pulp and paper industry as well as with applications in converting, laminating, extrusion and metallizing processes. ARclad® splicing tapes offer quick tack, consistent caliper, high quality, measurable performance and environmental stability.

Adhesives Research's pressure-sensitive adhesives are used around the world in the pulp and paper, flexible packaging, nonwoven, converting, electronics, automotive, display and appliance industries, as well as in healthcare markets such as in-vitro and molecular diagnostics, medical devices, wound care, pharmaceuticals/transdermals and cosmetics.
