AFM Safecoat® Receives SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification
San Diego, CA - American Formulating and Manufacturing (AFM) has received The Indoor Advantage Gold certification for its Safecoat primers and paints, Safecoat Polyureseal BP, Acrylacq, Acriglaze, Mexeseal and Durostain.
According to AFM Safecoat®, selected Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to provide detailed analysis of a comprehensive range of chemicals rather than a simple pass/fail test. This level of detail enables AFM Safecoat to identify opportunities to work with its distributors and consumers to improve environmental performance along the entire supply chain.
AFM President Sam Goldberg says, "This recognition assures that architects and building contractors specifying AFM Safecoat products with the SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification can help achieve the most stringent indoor air quality objective in North America."
"There is no need to buy an unhealthy paint because of a color preference," states Jay Watts, AFM's Material Applications and Special Projects Director. "AFM Safecoat paints come in a variety of finishes and can be formulated to create any desired color palette. Furthermore, Safecoat is the only paint on the market that is doctor recommended for those sensitive to chemicals. New parents and pet owners are also keen on keeping their indoor air quality as pure as possible as young children and pets are more susceptible to the toxins in harsh chemical formulations."
According to the company, SCS's highest level of indoor air quality certification – Indoor Advantage Gold – demonstrates conformance with two levels of emissions standards: (1) The program tests and certifies products for compliance with USGBC LEED EQ4.1 (paints and coverings), USGBC EQ4.2 (adhesives and sealants), USGBC LEED EQ4.5 (furniture and seating) and BIFMA x 7.1 low-emitting office furniture and seating; and (2) the State of California 01350 Special Environmental Requirements and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS). California 01350 / CHPS represent the most stringent standard in North America.
