Ashland Adhesive Brings Value To Makers Of Hi-Tech Control Panels

Dublin, OH - Hi-tech touch-pad control panels, like those used on today's appliances, can now be created more efficiently with new UV-curable technology from Ashland Specialty Polymers & Adhesives (SP&A), a business group of Ashland Performance Materials, a division of Ashland Inc.

AROCURE UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is designed so that manufacturers can accurately place the adhesive where it's needed without the waste associated with traditional methods. "AROCURE adhesive is easily applied using a screen-printing method that places the compound exactly where it's needed," said Jeff Warmkessel, Ph.D., senior staff scientist for Ashland's SP&A group. "Unlike other options on the market today, our PSA eliminates the waste normally associated with adhesives that must be die cut."

Warmkessel presented results May 7 at the RadTech UV & EB technology exposition and conference in Chicago from research he conducted on pressure sensitive adhesives. "Most manufacturers are working very hard to reduce the waste stream from their process," said Warmkessel. "Our AROCURE UV-curable PSA helps them accomplish this goal and improve performance."
