AT Plastics Corporationopolymers with 9-18% VA and 3-10 MI are used in liners for metal or plastic caps of PET bottles containing water or carbonated drinks. Customers compound this copolymer with proprietary ingredients for these applications. The compound is either extruded into sheeting and the liners stamped, or the liners are compression-molded in-situ. In this application it is critical that the polymer have low extractables, contributing to desirable organoleptic properties. This product has been tested to ensure it is acceptable for food contact applications and meet the requirements of FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1350.
