Durr Environmental Acquires REECO

Durr Environmental, Inc. has acquired the Regenerative Environmental Equipment Co., Inc. (REECO) of Branchburg, NJ. The purchase includes all equipment, systems, technology, goodwill and customer base, according to the joint announcement. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The company will operate under the REECO name as a unit of Durr Environmental, a supplier of organic emission abatement systems.

REECO was a pioneer in the development of regenerative thermal oxidation (RTO) systems in the early 1970s. It also produces a line of modular rotary oxidizers (RE-THERM RL). Its staff, with over 250 combined years of RTO experience, has installed systems for a wide range of applications ranging in size from 1,000 to 500,000 scfm.

``The acquisition of REECO enables us to provide our customers with the total solution to their emission control issues,'' according to Dinesh Bhushan, president, Durr Environmental, Inc.

REECO is now able to offer Durr Environmental's The TOTAL Solution, an exclusive, completely inclusive program that offers the industry's only 10-year warranty. Under this program, Durr Environmental builds, installs, operates and maintains the VOC abatement system for the customer. It assumes full responsibility for the operation and performance of the system for the life of the contract and applies to both new and existing systems.

Additionally, it broadens the technology available to the worldwide network of Durr companies. This is the second acquisition by Durr Environmental within the last year. Earlier, Durr acquired the South Lyon, Michigan, Process Emission Systems facility and technology of Engelhard Corp.
