High Solids! Elvace 737 - Low TG! Elvace 741
Reichhold's Adhesive Raw Material / Construction Polymer Systems (ARM/CPS) group has commercialized two new Elvace vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer products.
Elvace 741 is a polyvinyl alcohol stabilized product with a lower glass transition temperature, Tg is about
–10ºC. It features good wet tack and improved bond strength to certain films and coated board stock. It is polymerized to allow for redispersibility of the adhesive film, which means cleaner extrusion and less clogging of application nozzles. It also makes for easier clean up of adhesive application equipment. It is a low residual VAM (vinyl acetate monomer) product with VAM under 0.1%. Being low VAM potentially eliminates labeling or reporting issues that may be required with higher VAM products.

pH - 4.5 – 5.5
Wt/gal - 8.7 – 9.0
Elvace 737 is a polyvinyl alcohol stabilized, high solids vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer product. Solids are in the range of 67 to 70%. Elvace 737 features excellent wet tack, fast set speed, good water resistance and improved bond strength to many substrates. The glass transition temperature (Tg) is –5ºC. This lower Tg can allow for improved adhesion with less formulating. Like the Elvace 741, it is also a low residual VAM (vinyl acetate monomer) product with VAM under 0.1%. Being low VAM potentially eliminates labeling or reporting issues that may be required with higher VAM products.
