Mixing and Dispersion Systems

Fillworth mixers and dispersers supply the world market with a unique range of high energy mixing and dispersion equipment with application in adhesives, sealants, bitumen, paints, inks and plastisols.

The equipment offers significant reduction in processing times and power consumption (one third to one half are not unusual). The common factor in all the equipment is the utilization of a technique known to pigment chemists i.e. rubbing a pigment slurry between the thumb and finger to test ease of dispersion. Fillworth has captured this patented principal called "Fluid Wedge".

A thin layer of fluid is forced between the underside of an impeller and a pulse plate. In this way the machine compresses the fluid and generates an extremely high shear rate. Since it is working on a small amount of product at any time, only a small amount of energy is required.

Fillworth equipment range

The equipment range offered by Fillworth comprises four main mixing techniques namely: Batchmaster, Fillmastic, FDD Disperser, and FHDD

FILLMASTIC:

The Fillmastic is a market leading production mixer providing efficient mixing of products from 0.75 million cps to 2 million cps. Hydraulically powered, the Fillmastic can produce up to 10,000 liter batches. Vessels can be jacketed for product cooling or heating up to 482º F.

  • Built in stainless steel or carbon steel
  • Vacuum built as standard
  • Typical products – heavy mastics, sealants

BATCHMASTER:

Utilizing the revolutionary fluid wedge principle, with no bottom bearing or gland, the Batchmaster provides infinitely variable speed control and increased production efficiency by dramatically reducing production times. The Batchmaster's unique draught tube design feature enables production of as little as 10% of mixer volume. Product viscosity is up to 1 million cps with total uniformity of quality throughout the batch. Vessels can be jacketed for product cooling or heating up to 482º F.

  • Zero leakage – no bottom gland or mechanical seal
  • Vacuum built as standard
  • Typical products – adhesives, greases

FDD

The FDD (Rotor-Stator Disperser) features Fillworth's unique fluid wedge principle which, with no bottom bearing and an obvious flow pattern greatly reduces product heat generation. The FDD provides excellent batch circulation resulting in very efficient production – reducing mill passes by up to 50 – 75%.

  • Stand or vessel mounted
  • Speed – 1450 rpm
  • Typical products – paints, inks, oils, adhesive creams

FHDD

The FHDD combines the high dispersion of the FDD mixer with a top driven helical anchor stirrer. This unique design greatly reduces the power input which, coupled with rapid mixing and reduced batch times, results in high production efficiency and a uniformity of quality through out the batch. Vessels can be jacketed for product cooling or heating up to 482° F.

  • Built in stainless steel or carbon steel
  • Vacuum built as standard
  • Typical products – cold set inks, sealants
