G-2539 is a precatalyzed crosslinkable polyvinyl acetate adhesive system. It meets the following bond specifications:
  • CSA 0112.8 M1977 / Type II
  • BS EN 204: 1991 / Class D3
  • DIN #68602 / Class B3

Minimum operating temperature can vary with changes in moisture content of wood and relative humidity.

Application
G-2539 is used successfully in applications such as veneering, edge and face gluing, finger jointing and in the manufacture of architectural doors. It can be cold pressed, hot pressed or radio frequency (RF) cured.

Operating Conditions

  • Application: Brush, roller or glue spreader.
  • Coverage: 30 - 40 lbs/ 1000 sq. ft. for smooth surfaces. 40 - 60 lbs/ 1000 sq. ft. for absorbent materials.
  • Open assembly time: 5 minutes.
  • Closed assembly time: 20 minutes.
  • Cold press time: 30 minutes at 50-150 PSI & 21°C. 1 hour at 50-150 PSI & 15°C.
  • Hot press time: 2-3 minutes at 100 PSI & 12°C.
  • RF press time: 1-2 minutes.

Assembly and press times will vary with substrates used.

Pressure Requirements
The pressure required to assure good contact between surfaces to be bonded is an important factor in obtaining good bonds. For flat laminations glue line pressure should be 30-100 PSI. Higher pressures are required for hardwoods (175-200 PSI) and soft woods (100-150 PSI) in edge-gluing or face-gluing.

For hot pressing the press schedule will vary with operating conditions such as, spread rate, open assembly time, closed assembly time and platen temperature. The nature and thickness of the adherents will also affect press time.

Storage
G-2539 is stable for 6 months from date of manufacture at 21°C. Maximum stability is obtained if stored between 5-15°C. The viscosity of G-2539 will increase with time in storage, but as long as the material can be stirred to a smooth consistency it is satisfactory for use. Rotate adhesive stock. Protect from freezing. Do not mix with other adhesives.
