Ge Plastics
GE Plastics' new PPO resin, SA120, when used as an additive can give formulators the ability to improve the thermal, mechanical, and dielectric performance of many polymer systems, including styrenic block copolymers (SBC) and epoxies. PPO SA120 resin can also be used as an additive in a variety of cyanate esters, unsaturated polyester resins, styrene butadiene rubbers, polyurethanes and phenolic resins. Applications that can benefit from PPO SA120 resin as an additive include adhesives and sealants, electronics, composites, molding compounds, and coatings.
PPO SA120 resin is a low molecular weight polyphenylene ether resin that allows many hot melt SBC adhesive formulations to reach new thermal performance ranges (100-150 degrees C). In addition, PPO SA120 resin can offer improved toughness and electrical properties in epoxy adhesives.
PPO SA120 resin additionally offers:
- Excellent thermal performance
- Good dielectric properties
- Low viscosity
- Improved toughness when added to some thermoset systems
PPO SA120 resin can be used in many styrenic block copolymer hot melt adhesive formulations to achieve large boosts in service temperatures (SAFT, Slump) while maintaining adhesion performance and minimizing increases in viscosity. It can also be used in some solvent-based adhesives and sealants. In thermosets such as epoxies, PPO SA120 resin can improve toughness and dielectric properties.
