ITW Performance Polymers Acquires Permatex
HARTFORD, CT – Illinois Tool Works recently acquired Permatex, Inc., a well-known producer of sealants, adhesives, and other products for the worldwide automotive aftermarket and the industrial maintenance and repair market.
Founded in 1909 to sell shellac for bonding bicycle tires to their rims, Permatex soon entered the automobile maintenance market, using professional auto racing to prove the performance and promote sales of its gasket cements and threadlocking adhesives. The company's extensive product line includes Permatex® adhesives and sealants, Fast Orange® hand cleaners, No-Touch automotive appearance products, and NOS® performance-enhancing fuel additives.
According to Mike Underwood, Vice President and General Manager of ITW Performance Polymers North America, Permatex will become a subsidiary of ITW Performance Polymers and the Permatex brand name will be retained. "With the acquisition of Permatex, ITW Performance Polymers can now offer a more comprehensive line of products to its automotive aftermarket and Industrial customers," said Underwood.
