Jowat At Fachpack 2025: Sustainable Adhesive Solutions For Efficient Packaging Processes

The family-owned adhesive manufacturer from Detmold will present innovative hot melt adhesives for carton closing in Nuremberg under the theme “Reliable, Clean, Sustainable—Adhesives for the Packaging of Tomorrow.” The spotlight will be on products that meet ecological as well as economic requirements for modern packaging processes, with particular focus on food and frozen products.

Resource-saving bonding with Jowatherm PO 851.99
Jowat’s hot melt adhesive Jowatherm PO 851.99 sets a new benchmark for energy efficiency. With a low melting temperature, it is particularly attractive for heat-sensitive products, such as chocolate and confectionery. Its optimized processing profile with reduced energy requirement facilitates energy savings of up to 45% compared to other adhesives, providing a valuable contribution to the sustainability of packaging processes.

Top performance in carton closing: Jowatherm PO 851.10
The centerpiece at Jowat’s trade fair booth will be Jowatherm PO 851.10, a high-performance hot melt adhesive that meets even challenging requirements. Its excellent adhesion to difficult surfaces, clean cut-off at the nozzle and outstanding cold resistance make it the ideal partner for packaging applications in the frozen food sector. Whether pizza, ready meals or ice cream—Jowatherm PO 851.10 ensures securely closed packaging under adverse conditions. The minimized stringing behavior also effectively helps to prevent soiled machines and products.

Strong performance in hot environments: Jowatherm PO 851.20
For high-speed packaging lines and hot ambient conditions, Jowatherm PO 851.20 offers an exceptional heat resistance of 80°C. This adhesive is ideal for demanding industrial applications where high thermal stress is common—especially in fast processes with short pressing time.

Biobased and powerful: Jowatherm GROW 853.22
Sustainability-minded customers will appreciate Jowatherm GROW 853.22 (DIN-tested biobased 50%–85%) with an impressive combination of biobased raw materials and high bonding strength. Part of Jowat’s Green Adhesives range, the product couples environmental responsibility with industrial-grade performance. The adhesive uses resins derived from by-products in paper production and therefore does not compete with food resources. In addition, only pine wood sourced from responsibly managed forests in adherence with strict rules is used in the process.

Technical service and research: Solutions made not just to work—made to last.
With over seven decades of experience in the development of packaging adhesives, Jowat is one of the leading suppliers to the packaging industry worldwide. As a family-owned enterprise from the German Mittelstand with a global presence, Jowat offers not only adhesives but comprehensive solutions, technical advisory, lab analyses, test series and ongoing research for more sustainability and efficiency. Jowat sees its role not only as an adhesive manufacturer but rather as a partner for the full packaging process. Adhesive solutions tailored to the customers’ requirements are developed in close cooperation with the company’s technical service. Adhesives are tested under real-world production conditions in the enterprise’s own laboratories in Germany, Malaysia and the USA—from −20°C to +90°C, including humidity and time factor simulation. This provides certainty for Jowat’s customers before production begins, without additional effort.

Stringing behavior is another key focus in the company’s research. In packaging processes with hot melt adhesives, stringing can be a critical quality factor. The desired result is an adhesive that can be applied cleanly, without forming long, thin threads of material. Newly developed adhesives minimize stringing and thereby prevent the soiling of machines and reduce downtimes—a clear advantage for efficient and resource-saving packaging lines.
