LO-EX™ Low-Silicone Release Liners from Rexam Release
Silicone contamination caused by the migration of siloxane compounds from the liner directly to an adhesive or by the outgassing of volatile low molecular weight siloxane is of particular concern to the computer and automotive industries. In the computer industry, components such as computer disk drives are particularly sensitive to any volatile materials that could polymerize and interfere with the read/write capability of magneto resistive heads. In the automotive industry silicone contamination can impair the anchorage of paint to metal and other surfaces.
Rexam Release offers a solution:
LO-EX™ low-silicone release liner
LO-EX™ liners identify an entirely new product line that have significantly lower levels of extractable silicones and volatile components than release liners currently offered in the marketplace. A variety of products are being produced today using this technology. Polyester film, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), polyolefin-coated paper, and polyolefin coated polyester film are all being manufactured as one-side silicone-coated liners. Two-side silicone-coated liners, differential coatings, and other coated substrates are currently being developed.
