An ultra thin adhesive surgical 'cling film', which acts as a barrier to air, blood and fluids encountered during surgery, will be showcased at this year at Arab Health 2011; the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East.

Fluid leakage is a recognised complication following many forms of surgery potentially resulting in adverse outcomes for patients, longer hospital stays and a greater risk of infection.

To combat this and offering a pioneering solution, UK surgical sealant manufacturer Tissuemed has developed its TissuePatch family of products- unique films that cover tissues and bonds, forming a seal over the tissue surface within 30 seconds.

By adhering to the proteins available on the surface of internal organs and tissues, traditional suture closure can be enhanced and healing tissues supported.

Advantageously TissuePatch films require no advance preparation, are easy to apply and more adhesive than surgical glues.

Compared with other sealant options, which require several minutes to prepare, TissuePatch is instantly ready to use, giving surgeons the ability to seal any potential leaks or areas of concern within seconds.

TissuePatchDural is already proving successful in several Middle Eastern markets and will be on display at this year's Arab Health exhibition.

For Tissuemed Nick Woods said: "We spent six years developing this unique solution to an obvious surgical problem and are absolutely delighted with our progress in the Middle East. It is very gratifying to be able to showcase it at Arab Health 2011 where we hope to further raise the profile of this innovative product at the exhibition."

Arab Health takes place between 24 - 27 January 2011 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and during the show TissuePatchDural will be showcased on booth number PC05.
