Do you wonder if your epoxy ratio is correct? The proper epoxy ratio is very important if you are to develop the designed strength and performance of your fiberglass layups. A weight ratio calculation is more accurate than a volume ratio calculation because of the precise scale readings. In our shop, when using ratio cups, we routinely find a volume ratio discrepancy of as much as 2 parts per hundred (49/100 on a true ratio of 47/100, by volume), when checked on a scale and found to be a true 44/100, by weight.
An OHAUS scale, available from Michael Engineering, can provide an accurate check on the ratio from any Sticky Stuff Dispenser, Goo Grinder or Meter Master you are using. Making a weight ratio calculation will either confirm that you are operating at the designed ratio or let you know that an adjustment needs to be made. (Remember to subtract the weight of the empty cup.)
We are pleased to offer the two OHAUS scales listed above. We have used OHAUS scales in our shop for more than 20 years and have found them to be the best product available for the money. If you are undecided between the two models, we recommend the LS 2000.
